Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can men play netball?

A: Yes! In fact, for the 2015 Netball America annual tournament in Dallas, Tx, the Houston Shooting Stars was represented by both an all female and a mixed team. Specific rules apply to the number of males that can be on the court in a particular section at one time. However, we encourage both male and female netball players and umpires to participate at Houston Shooting Stars netball club.

Q: What are the costs associated with joining the club?

A: For new players the first netball session with HSS is free! Thereafter, if you wish to join the club, a $40 annual membership, and registration fee applies to cover insurance and Netball America registration (valid for 12 months). You then have the option to pay a weekly fee of $10 per session or $70 upfront for a ten-week training block (T&C's apply).

Q: What is the average age range of players at the club?

A: At present, we have 30 registered players with HSS, all ranging between the ages of 16-45 years.

Q: How will I be graded?

A: At HSS, we have a casual and friendly approach to choosing positions, where everyone can pick and choose what position they would like to play. Closer to the yearly Netball America tournament and depending on confirmed numbers, trials and grading applies to all players in order for HSS to form its national competition teams.
